Does it make any noise? It could be the motor as they do 'go'. Take the rear panel off and check the voltage to the motor.

Also (and this is a bit geeky) while you're at it swap the wiper arm for one from a Mk5 Astra Estate. It's a straight swap and looks a lot nicer than the spindly standard one.

Could be a knackered relay?.

Had similar problem with my focus and it just needed a new relay.

Are these canbus operated? If so may make tracing wiring faults a bit harder

With the front wipers on, put it in reverse. If wiper still doesn't come on then it is a fault with the wiring/motor and not the switch.

Like mine

Anyway, when you do decide to remove the arm, make sure you donit with a proper pulled as yanking the thing off will upset the position of the arm and it will never be right again.

Obviously this is more a case of doing it to the replacement motor than your one but it's worth the patience.

As for removing the motor, you have to CAREFULLY pride out the upper surround first starting with the brake light then the side trim panels and then the lower large panel because I'd you yank and tug the chances are you will snap one of the locating lugs

The wiring should be fairly straight forward as it's plug and play but there are so many other diddly wires there you may get a litre confused with everything

If you've already removed the cover then all well and good but you know this subject will crop up again and it's always best to be well informed

Mine was stuck on good and proper, I even tried using a slide hammer and nothing shifted it so I ended up using some bearing pullers which finally managed to shift the bastard

They're not that much darker than the OE Ford tint to be honest! It just looks dark in pics...
