Hi, has anybody replaced the head gasket in a 318se, I've got an E46 with water leaking down the gasket join on the exhaust side and the starter stopped working this morning, causing stereo to come on, heater to come on along with the headlights on turn over !!! I think i may have a short lol caused by the leaking water?
So who has changed one on these, how hard is it to do, how long does it take and anything to look out for?

 

Has nobody heard of anything like that happening, starter not working but the heater on at 23deg not STD 16, headlights on ?!? Is it a bmw thing? The starter just turns half a turn for a split second but doesn't turn the engine over. Its got to be a sticking solenoid or?? The inlet has to come off for the starters top bolt to be removed apparently joy
