Default Help! Fuel flap not opening on MK3 mondeo!

Title says it all, it was working fine up but today when I was going to fill up, it wouldn't open up.

The lever lifts up a lot higher than normal and has less resistance, but when I lift it up I can hear a noise coming from the flap area, it's just not opening.

Anyone know what's up? I only just had enough fuel to get back home....

im sure there is an emergency release behind the drivers side rear boot trim, its probably the cable has either snapped or come adrift

as Botters said, look behind the trim in the boot.

Hi, thought I'd resurrect this old thread as I seem to have the same problem.

Only thing is that the cable still seems to be very much attached to its moorings in the boot, yet it still wont open.

Any ideas?

Get someone to try and gently prise it open while you pull up the catch. It should pop open.
