I'd recommend it, brilliant fun, relatively cheap, and you get a few goes in the car during the day with a practice, heats and a final.
Great fun close racing, plenty of panel bashing on the first lap, and coming off the tarmac onto the lose surface bouncing around it really gives a good buzz.
Race entry around £200 (BTRDA) or £220 BRDA
Allow another £200 per event petrol, trailer, food etc.
Set of tyres will last a season (maybe two sets, < £400 each set).
Stock hatch used to be the cheapest way to do it and you can still do that with the BTRDA, cars available from £1500. Or just hire one.
Or in the main championship (televised) you could do Swifts, BMW Mini, Hot Hatch, of these three the hot hatch cars will be the cheapest to buy.
Swifts look like good series lots of ex stock-hatchers doing that, cars cost a bit more think more like £8k but same entry/running costs as above.
