Default How good are RST aerials ?

Just fitted a new cd player to my car and my radio has never worked. All I get is static.

Just had a look in the boot and everything is connected up and wired as it should be yet I have never managed to get it tune into any radio stations.

Someone told me its because the heater/aerial set up in the rear window is pants?!? I thought it should surely work though.

i had an orion with the same style aerial and it was spot on..you might find there is few breaks in the elements on the glass. look closely and you will see shiny bits every now. if it is that im sure a new glass would sort it.. another thing could be has it actually got a glass in with the aerial?

Try doing a continuity test through the aerial lead to see if it's damaged. Make sure it's earthed properly as well.

Mines shocking, i traced the problem to the wire section that goes from under roof lining to boot lit, constant opening and closing of the boot over the last 20years seems to have given it a hard time.

Open your boot and with the radio on and tuned to a known strong station give it a wank around..... I think the aerial amp can also give problems......

Gonna have to go over it 2moro if its not raining and see. Although all the heater elements work so I assume that its all in one piece.

Rob,
Is the aerial amp the blue box that sits in the tail gate?

No problems here, the amp will be in the boot, make sure it's getting a switched feed to it, a very good design, far better than the external aerials which vandals can snap etc!

The heating elements are conventional, however there is a band going round the circumference which is the aeriel.

In my case there was couple of wires cut broken in the rubber boot between roof and tailgate. Also aerial coaxial was broken.
Now i have good coaxial but coaxial runs under roof lining... so do someone know how much i have to take roof apart so i can change that aerial cable? One option is just take rear part of roof lining out and make connector there because i think that front part of coaxial cable is fine.
