Default "7" TFT screen in my MK4 dashboard (suggestions ar

Hi Ford lovers,

I need your suggestions & help on this one...
This is my car:

These are some pictures of the middle part of the dashboard:

http://home.i-lusion.nl/fotos/dashboard/

Now I am a little bit struggeling where my "7" tft screen has to fit...

Here are a few options:

- Use the area where the air comes out and built a screen in there
- Move my radio to the console and use an DIN indash TFT holder (see pics below)

What would allso may help if you guys post some pics (samles) with an MK4 dashboard an an TFT built into it...

Thanks,

use the heater vent area, just remember to block of the vent behind it, other wise the heat may damage the screen.

best place if you ask me as you dont need the central vents on an rs turbo. this is the place people put their gauges most of the time

Yep, that's the area that gingeRS is talking about.

I re-cased my touchscreen into a DIN foldout casing, the same as yours actually, it works pretty well but it depends what you're actually re-casing, normal composite TFT or VGA touchscreen?

The VGA touchscreen is a real squeeze because of the touch panel and extra control boards - also the VGA cable routing is an absolute bugger so folding the screen away is an art-form!

Apart from that it's pretty sweet - would be alot easier to do with a normal composite screen as you can simply use all the cables that are pre-routed in the casing.

Cheers,

Andy

I still need to buy the external case...but it;s going to be a "7" TFT with VGA + 2 x Video support.

Are the cables not comming out of the back of the din box???

Thanks for the info,

The 'ribbon' of cables supplied in the foldout case are 2 for video (composite) and one for power.

The Xenarc screen I used the internals from has a VGA cable that connects up within the foldout casing - this means that the VGA cable has to be routed out of the actual screen casing itself and then routed through the DIN housing itself - not easy.

If you want more information on the conversion then have a look at my post here...

andyhardyI've just had a read of your post on the other forum. Have you got round to running a PC in the car ?
How reliable is it ? I have heard that hard-drives don't like the in-car treatment.

B7 LCM,

That looks real nice m8, is that a PC in the bottom, or just another head unit ? If it's a PC, can you provide more info ?
