delocking bootlid?
Once deadlocked a piece of washing line/strong cord attached to the locking mechanism from inside the car and leave the other end accessible from the rear seats. Just pull on it to open !
Not the most sophisticated of methods but does the job and costs nothing !
Better than having a boot you cant open though

i wouldnt personally but if you do make sure u weld a plate behind it, what we did with my mates was to weld a plate on behind the hole, then weld a smaller bit in the hole so its the same level as the metal on the bootlid then fill the gap with weld and flat it back, then fill any imperfectiond as this way it wont crack, you will need a solonoid of some sort to release the boot

+1 a solonoid is the nicest way of doing it properly, its a bit of a mess about making it fit but well worth it in the end. saves you climbing over the seats every time to pull a cord lol
Im sure some of the mk3 xr2i's have 1 in them. you may be able to use the switch too

thanks kyle
i dont really wanna delock it but there is something wrong with the barrell in the boot lid i am not sure its the right one cause central locking moves the little arm but doesnt lock the boot neither does the key i took it all apart and moved the little arm on the barrel myself to see what was going on and can still depress the barrell fully regardless of the position of the little arm and previous owner had glued 2 bolts onto end of it so the mechanism that pushes through the barrell could reach the catch release....i took off the bolts and the barrell mechanism wont come close to the catch release now....it looks like there is something missing maybe but when the lock is depressed the mechansim just comes up to flush with the little plate attatched to the arm that attatches to the motor
any ideas?

thanks mate i have had a few turbos now but been out the game for 6 years till 4 days ago when i bought myself a beautiful red h plate so i am a little out of touch with the good places...know any good websites/centres for parts? thanks
try lubing the lock up with some wd 40 in to the key hole ,may have just siezed up ,other wise trip down the scrap yards for a barrell and key for pennys, and swop it over ,5 min job ,mine is delocked ,i have a second alarm fob just for the boot release
It sounds to me like the barrel of your lock was/is stuck in the locked position and in order to operate the lock the previous owner has glued the bolts on to the cylinder so that when depressed it pushes down on the catch. You might find that your key and lock don't even match and its only the central locking that has been locking your boot.
Mine ceased a few months ago and I got a brand new lock and had it matched to my key from a guy on ebay. He offers a repair service too but mine was totally fooked. It's a bit more expensive than the scrappy route but I didn't want to have two sets of keys.
Search Ford Lock Repaired and you will find him.
Hope that helps.
