You don't have to drop the crossmember. Turbo heashield off, boost hoses off and inlet manifold off was plenty of room for me to be able to change mine. Just engine craned the engine for support. Unbolt the engine support arms to allow room to lift the old engine mounts out.

Don't know what to do now as I have all suspension hanging and just the driveshaft in the way or put it all back together and try it your way. It's the middle of the day here so I am fixing it as I type this, guess I was looking for an intant fix

When I done mine recentley I took the inlet plenum off and loosened the big bolt on the oil filter extension arm and the 17mm bolt, as mentioned above, to allow access to the bolts securing the arms.
Is there a rubber seal in behind the oil filter extension, one that I haven't got?
All you needed to do was take the oil filter arm off to get to the engine mount legs that go into the block. Know it's too late to say lol, sorry. Plus you wouldn't have lost any oil as it would have been in the sump as it were. there ar
Thanks anyway I'll know for next time. Hope there isn't a "next time"
I know it's too late but no need to remove anything
jack up the engine cut the bolt on the old mount with a hacksaw to get it out and if fitting uprated ones the new centre bolt is removable, jobs done but not easy

A bit late now, but easy way to do the job is as follows.
1) Remove intercooler to inlet hose
2) Remove oil modine to inlet bracket (small bracket, not all are still fitted as it hardly ever gets put back on)
3) Slacken oil modine and lift up untill it touches inlet manifold and then retighten to hold there
4) Remove engine mounting top nut from arm to rubber mount
5) Support engine from under the sump with a jack and wooden block
6) Remove the 4 bolts that hold the alloy arm into the block and lift arm out of way
7) Remove 2 enging mounting bolts that hold mount to crossmember
8) Refit in reverse order
Time taken - 1 hour
and that would include a brew half way through
