Either way, mechanical or sender they are easy to fit, and a top idea. Especially for a new engine.

Maybe, or just wait until the coolants warm + a few miles, this holds true in the birds MGF which has an oil temp gauge. Im going to have oil temp on a digital display where the trip comp goes. But i don't think its essential so to speak.

Water temp+ another 10-15mins is fine for warm weather but you'd be surprised how much longer it takes to get up to proper oil temp in the winter.

I dont drive mine in the winter
I will get one eventually, but when im running more boost an exhaust temp gauge will do me more favours.

As said mate, any oil pressure gauge will work with any car. Give reyland a call for stack gauges if they are what you want, they gave me the best price.
You will need a t-piece adapter, i have never bought one as my car came with one, but im sure lots of firms will supply one. The gauge t's off of the oil pressure switch (and turbo feed) at the back of the block.

Let me dig them out at home mate and take a look. The oil pressure works fine, but i think the oil temp gauge needs a new sender.

Gauges are unified generally but the sender MUST be the correct one for the gauge as they are calibrated!

All my stack gauges self calibrate on every ignition on, and the smiths gauges have a calibration screw on the back. Not rocket science.
