Default My 2wd saph mapped Saturday by AFR Tuning

Had my saph mapped by Luke at AFR Saturday just gone and my mate had is 200sx mapped to. Top bloke and place to go.

Very pleased with the results, came away with 450bhp and a much more responsive car. Mate made 467bhp so good day overall.

Spec of car is:
200 long studded block low comp CP pistons 7.5:1
2wd head - standard exhaust cam, bd14 inlet
T38 turbo
L8 ecu
Alcon 6 paddle clutch
044 fuel pump hard wired

Heres the graph ignore the green that dont make sense wernt set up on the rev range correct.

Heres some pics to:

Sorry mechanic28 should have said it was AFR Tuning not actaully mapped by looking at afr.

KSA not sure what t38 it is was on the car when i brought it, previous owner said he brought it off harvey gibbs. Forgot to say it peaks at 2.1 bar and drops to around 1.9.

Nice result mate
Your swirl pot looks to be fitted wrong though, it should flow from top to bottom not bottom to top..

In which case id say that figure is a touch high, which is normal for a rolling road!

With that spec engine and a ported head and exactly that boost we see 370lbft and 450bhp

What torque figure did you get off the rollers?

lbft was around 350ish, it may have a ported head as i havent owned the car from new and can only say what it has had done by previous owner, for all i know the owner before that might have had it done. Thats a problem with a car that is modded before you own it never know the full history.

If it was ported than fair enough, be good to know as a ported head on that spec makes a much nicer engine all round not just peak figures

Would be nice to know full spec as i think previous owner talked out of his arse a bit, to behonest the car has always suffered from lag so not a really nice engine to drive as such but just put it down to the low comp and the t38, would like to get another turbo in the future.

Mates 200sx is higher comp in the high 8's and is so much more responsive.

i would think kev it would be better to get a t34 coverted to a r/b t38 as it's not cheap getting it done and at the end he can sell his t38 on

A decent mapping session can make a world of difference to off boost drive-ability and pick up, even if the RR graph doesn't show it.
Accuracy of readings isn't that important, use the same one always, it's more CONSISTENCY that matters.
The rollers I use are recalibrated when needed, but agree with the engine dyno they have anyway.
Re the swirl pot, the air that is created under driving, esp boost will be piped back the way it is at the mo.
There may be reasons other than high comp why the SX is more responsive, but the cr certainly does make a difference, mine is hopefully nearer 8.2:1 now.

tabetha so i should change the swirl pot around? I can vouch for consistency used AFR(enhanced performance) for all my runs from when the car run shit at 380bhp to how it is now, world of difference from then but still a laggy car, starts making boost about 3000 but not on full till 5k ish. Revs till 7800 now thats made a big difference pulls hard all the way to.

Im not to sure what T38 it is Steve, previous owner said he brought it off Harvey Gibbs at SCS but never did manage to find the reciept to show me.

Is there a way of telling what make it is?

Was you mapped by Luke or just had a rollling road there?

If its from SCS it will be a bored out T34

TT T38s have Turbo Technics written on the compressor housing.

Had mine rolling roaded there, it was mapped by Turbosystems.

The CR effects lag, from what I understand lowering the CR is old fashioned and was done back in the day, maybe so gains can be make by advancing the timing perhaps? Re the 200SX as said CR helps but maybe it has a smaller turbo as well etc?

What spec is the SX out of interest?

Nice power. Standard cam pulleys but BD14 inlet. Why arent youusing vernier pulleys to dial the cam in correctly?

martysmartie the spec of the 200sx is new built fully forged bottom end, 264 cams, the turbo is not small thats for sure its a Holset HX35 running twin scroll manifold, his vvt sprocket wernt working either which should bring boost in even earlier.

Cossierich would verniers make a big differnce to the set up then? someone told me before not to bother and the standard ones are fine.

I don't understand with so many decent tuners out there that have very good reps and customer service do people choose poor companies - you have M.A.D down there FFS and look what Mark can do with a Cossie.

Back on track - good power figure

nice cossie you got there matey. obviously the tuner you used thought the set up is good for what you need and he got the best out of it, plus all tuners have differant methods etc. must be great to drive fair play mate

Just checking the graph aint really paid much attention to it to behonest but i looks like it is reading wrong because i have full boost well before 6000 something like the graph says.

Brammer have i missed something out of intrest?
Luke is a decent bloke and knows his stuff by what i have seen, he mananged to track down a problem that my car had happen to it on the rollers couldnt run over 4.5k and was spluttering, seening that i havent drove the car for over 6 months and it hadnt been on boost as its been off the road having bits and bobs done i never knew the fault was there. Turns out the solder on the ecu had dried out and was making the ecu cut boost and fuel now that was a pretty random thing to have happen but Luke traced it down in no time and sorted it and he is very fair with his prices.
I actually took my car to MAD when i first got thr car for a set up to see if everything was fine and i pretty sure the swirl pot was mentioned but said it aint doing any harm so leave it otherwise i would have changed it round by now had the car in pieces enough to do a simple job like that lol.

Thanks gcfcos needs a bit of work here and there but im pleased overall.
