Default speedo cable gearbox oil leak

Is there an oil seal for the speedo cable? Can it be changed whilst its on the car? Is it common for these to go? Gear oil is spewing out from all around it.
Cheers Tomo

there is a little dowl in to the gear box ,pull this out nearly all the way with some mole grips, then the whole lot should pull up out of the box, there is a rubber o ring on the speedo drive this may have perished ,or check your dowl is in properly as the speed drice may not be in properly giving you a leak ,can be done while in place ,funny enough just had mine out

Awesome, Twins your the man the roll pin/dowel on the box near the cable is nearly all the way out. So should i just push down on the speedo assembly and nock it in, or take it out replace the O ring and then nock it in?

As its out, take it out and inspect it anyway ,make sure the flat part on the drive lines up with the dowl when putting back in, and you dont have to knock the dowl right back in leave a bit out, to grip in future

if you can pull it out with out removing the dowel more, chances are this was the cause as the drive would have been jumping up and causing a leak

Cheers for the help mate ive sorted it now, fingers crossed I get no more drips. Especially as ive just had the box out and put a new clutch and end gearbox endcap gascket on, I thought it might be leaking from where the bell housing bolts to the gearbox aswell but I guess time will tell.
