Default rs turbo conversion

CAN ANY1 HELP ME?!?!

I'm new to the site and the rs turbo life, I've got a 1.1 bonus and fully converted it to an rs turbo.....(nearly). The guy I had the engine off told me that its been modified...with Kent Pullys, bigger cams, cossie actuator.
Are these the sort of mods to stay away from? If so then what do I take off to be running a sweet rst because the last thing I want is to BLOW IT UP!

Nope you should be fine with those, not heard of a cossie actuator being used before though as i thought they had a slightly different/funny shaped rod, is the turbo a standard T3?

Deffinately worth taking it to a tuner to set up and check the fuelling for the mods, last thing you want is it blowing up as it comes on boost for the first time after all of your effort building the car up!

PS... got any pics, got to love a bonus Turbo!

Brilliant newz Jimmy, I think its running a standared turbo but I did notice when dropping the engine in that there was a bit of play in the shaft of the turbo . I also noticed that before I took the engine out of the other shell that there is a bit of smoke (not much at all) but seemed to boost ok....any ideas?

I'll be uploading all the pics form the start untill now later on when I finish work pal...hope you'll be impressed!

Good man, get the pics up

Regarding the smoke, what colour was it and was it just on start up?
If it was white, could be just condensation in theexhaust which should clear after a few minutes.
Black is overfuelling/running rich.
Blue smoke on idle could be valve stem seals, common, cheap and easy to fix on a cvh.
Of course it could also be the turbo

Its been a while from when I last had it going but I think it was white smoke on start up but it doesn't really clear...saying that I didn't take it for a run, I just left it on tick-over and had a quick blast up the lane. I'll find out soon enough once she's all done and on the road with a bit of luck!

Let's just hope its not the head gasket if it doesn't clear.

Anyway, welcome to the forum pal.
Look forward to seeing the pics.
