Default Thermostat housing.. ??

Fukking things are useless. mine has started leaking a little bit
again.. brand new one 6 months ago.

Can an older style Zetec one be used? they are metal on the old escorts/fiestas ETC
anyone tried it with any success? they also would have the advantage of having a port in them for a temp sender for aftermarket gauges.

Cheers

The old silvertop housing has extra sensor holes that need a suitable size bolt fitted to blank them off, otherwise they are fine to use, I did it as a tempory fix on my sons blacktop engined Focus a year ago and he has never changed back.

my st170 was leaking from the clip in plug on the bottom of the housing is it not just this thats leaking on yours?cost just under £10, i only noticed it cos there was water staining on the bellhousing of the clutch, also earlier zetecs were plastic too, not sure bout the very first ones though but i know my 97 model escorts were plastic and have different sized sensors on top with different connectors compared to later escorts but the focus may all be the same, good luck with it mate

Is it cracked phallis or just the seal that's gone? I'd definately take it back if it's only 6 months old, however I guess Ford will use the approaach that if they didn't fit the part then they won't cover it...

You can buy alloy items to replace the plastic ones for this reason.
