Default engine change an mot ?

a mate of mine is lookin at buying a pug 106 quiksilver but it now has a 106 gti engine in there but on the log book its still a 1.4 ?
would they not notice this on a mot or hows there ways around it. people will say declare it but i no there loads of use out there that havent.

any help

years ago, they did not care, I had a MK11 escort it had a differant engine in every MOT, The MOT man was more concernt it was to low

aint me thats buying it ...was askin for a friend before he went buyin summin that will get him in trouble an loose out...so best avoid buying or buy it and declare it all ?

Ask the seller why the engine change has not been noted on the log book. Then walk away because it's A, illegal and B, you are just asking to get your pants pulled down if they want proof of where the engine originated.

It pisses me off big time, that HONEST youngsters are being screwed by arseholes like your mate, with respect to insurance premiums, why not do the right thing, and be a responsible person and tell him to do one.

haha yes hes allowed just sold his work van and wants a car an this 106 come up cheap with quite a bit done to the engine.

Im sure as long as the emissions are ok it will be a pass. If it had an 205 gti engine in for example it would be a different story.
