Default Puma engine help?

After loosing its coolant my engine got fried today , it is a 1.7 puma on an x plate.

Thing is the engines seemt to be £££ and none local so wondered, can a 1.6 lump go in, and if so which one/year/model and what else needs to be changed ie box, ecu, wiring, mounts etc?

Can anyone help

If you fit a 1.6 into what was a 1.7 car, you'll need to get busy with the wiring and ECU as the 1.7 has VCT, the 1.6 doesn't. Mounts should be the same as it's the same block.

Not sure where the water leak was, but very possible as it must have gone rapidly and the oil was not contaminated.

They have decided to try and sell it as is, less hassle for them so not to worry about replacing the lump, cheers for the info though peeps.
