Default cossy not boosting?

well i think that's what's wrong.....

please bare with me lads, i got my saph home, been sat in a garage for a year doing nothing, anyhoo, got her home changed the plugs, dizzy cap and arm, oil and filter plus the fuel filter...

now when i start it, it fires up first time, fluctuates a little but settles down, but when i rev it, it doesnt seems to boost...

gauge in the car ( i know not always acurate) seems to go minus figures when you rev it hardish, no dump valve noise or turbo noise.

took the actuator off as it's as stiff as i vicars old boy when looking at choir boys, could this be old and jammed? or amal valve? or????

basically i just need to get it mot'd so i can then have it set up properly, should i be worried about driving it carefully to the mot then sorting it later?

i did drive it down the road before i did all the above to it, and it didnt have any go then.

any ideas would be ace lads, cheers

pete

won't boost just revving it, engine needs to be under load.

actuator is ment to be stiff.

check for split pipes. bypass amal valve and drive it.

you will get a small amount of boost but not full boost.

check for air leaks using a can of brake cleaner.

You wont see positive boost sitting revving it. The car needs to be under load. Check for obvious split/perrished hoses.
If you want to check the actuator is ok- disconnect the hose going to it, plug on a coolant tester pump, and pump it up-it will reach a certain pressure then move. If it dont, actuator problem.

UPDATED!!!!

ok i take it the amal valve sucks, then pulls a diaphram which pulls the rod which then opens/closes the waste gate?

i put a big 50ml syringe on the pipe going to the act, and pulled it all the way out, so big negative pressure the rode didnt move, and also did not pull the syringe back down......split in the rubber diaphram?

also the only way too get the actuator rod to move was to push in 50ml of air very quickly then it moved probably 2mm....

The Amal valve has three outlets (R, W,C) the PRESSURE from the compressor housing goes via a hose to the amal valve (C), with no power the valve is closed and so the PRESSURE gets sent to the actuator where if sufficent enough it will overcome the strength of the actuator thus opening the wastegate.

However when the Amal is powered on a pre determined amount of boost is allowed to bleed off out the remaining outlet. The ECU controls the amal valve and it will have a boost limit within the software itself.

As an example lets say our actuator has a rating of 10PSI and we want to run 15PSI, to do so we would need to bleed 5PSI off via the Amal.

The actuators is supposted to be as described, otherwise if it were loose it would not be able to hold the penny shut

As said revving the car will do nothing, you need to get it out on the road, if revved hard enough when stationary you will make a little boost and be able to hear the dump valve.

My car won't entertain boost until its warmed up, sitting in the garage revving it won't have any effect. Get an MOT and take it out a drive and see whats happening.

£20 note in the end of the exhaust pipe seems to keep my emmissions down just fine!
