Default lights on cosworth computer

is there any common problems to check why the brake warning light stays on once you press the brakes when it should go off.

Won't be brake fluid as this has it's own warning light, firstly check your brake lights, if none of them work I suspect the fuse or the switch, as it also checks the operation of the switch hence when you first start up the lights do not extinguish until the first press of the brake pedal.

I have this on mine , the brake lights work perfect , press the pedal and the brake lights come on , the lights on the display go out . Release the pedal and the brake lights go out and the display lights come on . It is an intermitant fault but my brake lights are working all the time when it happens .

Switch is on the brake pedal. But if your lights go on and off then the switch is working.

Its probably bad earth connections. My brake light indicator stays on always now, it also tells me i have a head light blown, which i dont. The head light indicator also gets brighter with the engine speed. I have never bothered looking into it really. The module for it is next to the glove box, could unplug it and check the connector for dirt/corrosion.

Just to add the one behind the passenger kick trim is the module for the graphic display module itself, the lights warning is controlled by a seperate dedicated "Lamp Failure Module" behind the drivers lower facia, brown wires are earths in most cases

As an EX Auto Electrician [ now retired ] these faults can be caused by just the Bulbs....yes the lights may be working... but after some years the bulb resistance does change... re-the stop lights the ECU control for the Display on Dash will be looking for 42watts, this wattage does change over a time, do change BOTH bulbs first , check the multi-plug on the rear bulb holder, it could well be corroded, must be clean. These lights as i remember let in water and corroded plug, This above applies to Head lamps etc. Hope of some help. Pete.
