Hi my focus tivct has started making a loudish clicking noise for about a second or so when driving off from cold, this isn't the tapety noise from the injectors but something else (similar to a pinking sound). I think it is a similar noise when the engine is switched off, where I get a brief clicking shortly after switching the engine off.
Any Ideas

Wouldn't worry about It mate. Probably the egr valve. YOu should hear the noise the transit ones make wrench you key off.

 

Sounds to me like the locking pin in the De-phaser pulley

 

Could also be charcoal canister purge valve...

well i done a clutch on 1 couple weeks ago and that was solid

 

The noise only happens once a day, and is ok from cold during the day after engine has cooled down and never when the car is warm. First noticed it a few days ago when I started the car in -5 conditions....Cheers for all the reply's

 

I've got the same engine in my Focus. It only does it every so often and I've been told it's nothing to worry about.

 

I get this noise in my 07 focus, it's a tivct too and drives me mad! Only from cold

 

no dmf or egr valve.
