Are the big valve heads worth getting for the escort cosworth as im replacing the head gasket and getting the valve guides renewed, but im thinking about why not go and get a ported and polished head with the bigger valves??

no need for big valves unless your going for serious power, a little port and polish would do no harm , what power you looking to run?

 

Only around 400, dont really wanna crack open the bottom end.

 

No need for a big valve head at that level. Iv seen near 600 on std valves. As said, a wee port and polish would see a nice increase but not even all that nessesary.

Even rod tarrys engine only runs std valves..

Iv got a big valve big port head but in all honesty didnt need it up to now when im going for a high reving 700 hp..

For 400 hp just a small port head with cleaned up throats will work best..

You don't need to touch the head for 400bhp?

 

No you dont but if you do open up the throats and give it a clean up it will do 400 hp for less boost and will also do 500 hp if you ever want it too..
