Default how are 215/40/17's on the rear?

As above guys, Iv got 235/40 at the moment but there catching the arches and I really dont want to cut back the metal lip.. bodykits not an issue but i know its still going to catch the metal.. So Iv got one spare toyo proxy t1r in 215/40 so to solve my catching issues I have to buy one more tyre only.. But my question is how will a 215/40 cope on the rear.. Ie traction wise etc

mine used to spin every time i came on boost - used to love it as the howling turbo and screeching tyres made me smile - used to stay in a straight line unless i provoked it too which was nice

Didnt catch all even with people in the back - 17s, ET35 and 215/40/17s

Iv got 215 on the front mate and havent driven it hard or been over any speed bumps but coming in and out my drive way its fine.. Im more concerned about traction on the rear opposed to catching as my 235's are catching very slightly but enough to annoy me

225/45 are really common but probably too high profile.

They're 8" rears...

Just see how they just seem alittle stretched, looks worse in the pic tbh. NOOO rub/catching at all though and no arch mods which is what i wanted...

And yes it spins up alot...

Trust me to post 3 pics.......

Hope this helps though dude....

That was just me being a big kid... they're fine mate honestly.

As you can see in the second pic i have a good inch of clearance on them..

Can't remember the offset tbh, Martoon sorted all that for me...

i used to launch mine and never had any issues with it catching and that 215s on the rear too.

I would try and get some 225s under there but you need to find a decent set - and sell the new tyres you have

trim the kit back - its only plastic and just buy another set of rear arches that are uncut so you can still revert it back to std if need be.

then chuck some 245s under there

I have 215/40 on 8.5" rears - too small and would deffo need at least 225/45 on this size rim

Toyo Proxes T1-R 225/45 R17 Y (94) Ł88.10 each

Hankook Ventus EVO V12 do a 225/45 x 17 as I have them, use them with a 3.9 diff if you're worried about gearing, I went with a 45 profile for a bit of extra protection between rim and road.
