Im fed of of dealing with people who cannot grasp the idea of what a part exchange actually means when trying to buy a car.

My cars up for £8k, someone offers me a car that he wants £4k for. Ok, so i say id be happy to do the deal at £4000 and his car in PX. He then says 'but how much would you take for cash'? I tell him id take £7500 for a cash sale. He then says 'well thats £3500 and my car right'? I say, 'no not at all, the cars up for £8000 and you want £4000 for your car, so its £4000 cash on top'. He then sounds completely baffled by this!!!!

Ive had this a few times too, and i just cant understand why they cannot grasp the whole concept of a PX. Selling cars seems to be such a task at the moment!!!!! There seems to be more dumplings around then ever before!!!!!!

 

If he wanted 4k for his car i would have said you can have 2.5k trade in for it and give me 5.5k cash. no way i would give people their asking price if they trade it in.

 

£4000 was actually what we agreed on in the end mate, although yes its still well over the trade price, which is exactly what i told him when he came out with £3500 cash on top nonsense. Dealers would actually allow him about £2500 like you said.

The clue is in the statement itself, '£7500 for a cash deal', yet it seems people want to agree a price for their car, then want to use their car as PX based on the 'cash deal' price!!!

just say you have your motor for sale and someone calls up and says about a px and tells you about it,when your at the nitty gritty all you need to say is this..

look mate how much are you prepared to put towards your car then shut up and wait for a answer.

if yours is 8 grand and his is 2500 if he only has 3 grand to fill it up you know his pockets are not deep enough for you.also its well annoying when someone wants to get rid of there shitter in px and then knock you down on your price too yet expect top whack for there crate.

also i always and i mean always find people do not know what a partfuckingx is,so i always mention no straight swaps as its amazing how so many blokes think a px is a straight swap or a leveller as its known in new jersey.
