Im rebuilding a 1.6 engine to go in for the old clapped out engine. does anyone know of a turbo that will fit to the engine directly or with little problemes as possible.
ideas would be great!

 

not sure if same applys for the 1.6, but wen i looked at turboing my 1.8 focus, i was told i wud need to upgrade the internals as they were like "chocolate" as someone told me lol. Also i need upgraded clutch, gearbox and brakes and thats before lookin at the cost of the turbo

 

The little 1.6 unit in the focus is such a restrictive engine, there is no re-build information avaliable for these such as tourqe settings etc as ford designed the bottom end to be a throw away part, if you need a re-build you buy a new bottom end. Dont bother seriously, the 1.6 is the worse base for an engine build, the gearbox on the 1.6 is really bad, to handle the power you need the same gearbox fitted to the 2litre which will not fit your engine.
Start with a 2litre engine then
Fit a decent clutch
new pistons
new rods
new exhaust manifold
inlet manifold
managment
intercooler
uprated brakes
etc etc

 

ok cheers, how hard is it to fit the 2 ltr into the focus, i don't know what the wiring looms are like and any other requirements for the 2 ltr.
