Got done today, 3 points and 60 quid. I'm taking it like a man but just wondered how much it would effect my insurance?

I got the same i think its a CU80, if its your first points i don't think it makes much of a difference as it hasn't with me

There were at least 2 insurance co panies that took a dim view of getting done for being on the phone and would refuse to insure you. Their view was that it was worse than being done for going through a red light as you cannot justify using the phone while driving. Not sure who they were but I'm sure someone will find out, 3 points for getting done by a speed camera is nothing nowadays though which is what most people thunk 3 points on your license means.

 

Thanks guys, I was shitting it because not only is it my first time getting points but the first time in 9 years of driving that I've been pulled over for anything.

And yes i know I shouldn't have been doing it but it was while sat in traffic stationary so didn't really put anyone else in danger, but still I broke a rule got caught and will take my punishment

 

fair play to you, its so easy to get caught these days its just not worth the hassle.

Insurance companys dont like points for this now, as for some reason the police/courts/insurance see this offence as bad as drink driving now

 

I recon getting points for this is bollocks.

If I look at the number of times I have seen shit driving and ask how many of them were on the phone it's almost none.

What gets me the most is that it's almost become the new drink driving. I've had some woman screaming at me about being on the phone, then she fucked off at at least 45mph in a 30 zone.
