Default st170 cams?

as some of you may know, i started a thread on here awhile ago saying that my st170 sounded "abit tappety" lol.

anyway had it in the garage yesterday and as it turns out the lifters (or buckets) and shims need replacing, so therefore so does the cam belt. now thats not too bad, but after a closer look, so do the cams, so now i need a head gasket as well. and on top of that i also need the rear 02 sensor replacing. so after a phone call to ford its going to cost me £1015+vat!!

sooooo, does anyone know where i can get these parts from any cheaper? please!!!

Ah right fair enough, would it not work out cheaper to take the car to where the head work is being carried out, instead of removing the head?

you dont need to remove the head though to replace the cams and buckets/shims.
are you having the head ported or something? is there damage to the head that means it need to be removed and worked on??

how many miles has the engine done as i've never known a black top zetec e including the st170 to wear out the cams or followers?? even after 100k+
