I'm not being tight but over a ton a pair, I just want to keep the cost down a bit. I've just found out that mk2 escort heavy duty mounts are really good so might give them a shot

Do they fit? be surprised if they did tbh but i could be wrong, i just paid £90 for a pair but there is a guy breaking a s1 (Mark) in the forsale section, think he was selling a pair of nearly new ones for £70.

I found that VT ones vibrate too much, just using standard ones.

i was warned that if i fitted vibratechnic mounts to expect dash rattle and horrible vibrating on overrun.

but mine have been perfect. no rattles, squeaks, nothing. thats even with a B&m mounted up direct to the floor too, no rubber washers. its fine.

Volvo 200 series diesel mounts are widely used in mk4 RSTs and cost next to nothing.

Just the gearbox. i didn't know you could get the engine one too! i did fit a brand new ford one at the same time though (ebay spesh bargain!)

BTW I have the fast road ones, not full race.

they really do make a nice difference though imo

Ive just fitted vibratechnic mounts to mine after rebuiled and they are fucking horrible. Worst thing ive done to the car since ive owned it! Horrible vibrations on idle, sounds like the dash is falling apart!

Rob,
make sure the foam tape is in good condition on the bulkhead behind the top lip of the dash. that should help alot. no offence to Rs owners but i'll bet all hae been played with lots. my orion had the dash out once in its life and the tape was mint. i'd say this goes a long way to help dash rattle.

Rob,

If its not your daily driver, i personally think you'll enjoy the gains more and overlook any downsides if they arise. you dont get any of the soft wallowy feel when you put your foot down, its hard to describe, but you feel more connected to the engine.

B&M ? hell yeah. ever used a proper H gate gearchange? well i havent, but i close my eyes and pretend i'm in a ferrari put it that way haha fookin lovely. if your ever in the west mids, your welcome to pop round for a cup of tea and a spin in mine if you fancy it. really tight and precise. they are a git to set up properly, i spent a whole afternoon adjusting mine miniscule amounts at a time, i did it 8 or 9 times in the end but once you get the sweet spot its ace.

Id keep away from standard mounts if running good power.i went through 2 sets in few weeks!not good.these vt ones are good.you will need to give it time for them to bed in,as that be time they shack your motor.after that should be fine.yes far as i knw there two types.think may upgrade again.
