evening all got a quick question for anyone that can help. Ive got a 98 golf tdi 90, when pulling away the car is in third gear even though ive tried to selct first. . was fine before but has got worse and worse.
I have heard there is gear cable adjustments possibly?anyone heard of this? Cheers keiran

 

I've had this in work before, I tried adjusting the cables but got nowhere, eventually I put the selector housing unit on it and it cured it. It's the bit the gear cables "clip" on ontop of the gearbox, held on with two massive long bolts.

Although the one I did was a petrol IIRC....so it might be different!
