Default No fuel pump kicking in on my rs turbo ??

took my series 2 rs turbo off the road to have the bonnet and intercooler changed , car was running perfect and started 1st time every time before taken off the road . now i removed the battery a month ago to use on another car , now today put it back on and turned the engine over , started for 2 seconds then died , now wont start & no fuel pump noise , fuel pump relay looks in top shape and tryed working it manually but still no power , the car is fitted with a aftermarket immobiliser but im sure thats turned off every time i have tryed , little stumped now - all fuses checked too ????

make sure all the contacts are clean and gapped tight. i had a wire come off the contact under the lid aswell, cant remember if it was fuel pump related.

easy to check, where the wires run into the fuse box, peel the rubber back and gently prise the lid off.
let me know how it goes.

Does pink relay click when ignition turned on (most do to prime the fuel system but not all of them). If not then does it click when turning engine over on the key (it should do because it will be picking up pulses from ignition). If not then removce pink relay from loom. Carefully remove the innards of the relay from it's houseing and refit to loom. Turn ignition to stage 2 (normal running position) and manually operte the relay with your fingers. Does the fuel pump now run /buzz. If yes car should start and run.

In this case I would suspect faulty relay or wiring issue to the relay itself. Allways a good idea to carry a spare with MFI escorts anyway. Can you borrow one to try out maybe?

the fuel pump relay works off the injector pulse so take off the main coil lead and put near something metal and see if a spark jumps across...

with a rs no spark means no fuel... if it does then its most likely the fuel pump relay or the relay thats just by the coil on the innerwing....

it all runs off the same system as the rev counter so the green wire from the back of the ignition that goes to the coil is what powers the fuel pump and relay so if you follow that circuit you will find your fault.

hope this helps
