Unhappy FAO Tabetha

U seem to be a very knowledgable man when it comes to cosworths

I have got a 3 door cosworth was a stage 1 when I got it so I bought all the stage 3 parts for it

First problem was I have never had any real boost it won't go over 1 bar no matter what the act is on. It eventually drives shite and cuts out with too much preload

I have changed the following
plugs 3 sets
t34 x2
2 .48 housings
2 .63 housings
2 3 bar map sensors
2 intercoolers
3 -31 acts
There was a small hole in the inter cooler but that was sealed and tested
no more air leaks etc
Now I refer to the Amal valve thread and mine did have the restrictor (just pulled it out)
But my car also has the very early map sensor bracket where it bolts flat to the inner wing. Would this also be the problem?
I can't check any more at the mo as the car is now stripped for paint etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated

CheeRS

sounds like you have a l6 chip in a l1 brain. if thats so then it wont run right. either borrow a l6 ecu and try your chip in it or get yourself a proper l1 chip. by the way your ecu should have a yellow mixture screw on the face of it. l6 is white.hope this maybe helps a bit

As above, first thing to do is to make sure all bits are in harmony, if you tell msd the serial number from the chip they can tell you what it is what it is for etc, they do very helpfully keep these on record, which is a great help, they'll be able to tell what other bits go with it.
As said about L1 and L6 re the screw colour, the L6 looks more silver/grubby white in colour than white most of the time.

Well it's defo a L6 ecu and chip I checked that with stu recently

I was just wondering if it could be my map sensor bracket as the sensor is upright and the lowest part of the pipe is the sensor

now uve already told me my Amal wasn't helping so I've sorted that now

The map sensor should have the stub for the pipe/and the lecky connector FACING DOWN, if these are facing up it(map sensor) is knackered already, the primary reason it faces down is so that it can have a drop in the pipe to the sensor so that no fuel can get to the sensor insides, if the flat face of the sensor is uppermost and level, the pipe stub points directly downwards.

Could be a faulty TPS. the wiring plug once fell off mine and it only boosted to 1 bar. Turns out the TPS, amal valve and a few other things are all chained together.

So long he vacuum pipe stub and the electrical connector face downwards and not upwards it is right, the 3 bolts which hold it to the bracket travel in a upwards direction when tightened up, ie the socket goes on the bolts on the underside of the bracket, so looking down on the bracket it would be clockwise to undo and counter clockwise to tighten to the bracket, so all you can see of the bracket when you look down onto it is the 3 captive nuts welded in the corners and the ends(not the heads) of the bolts in them.

Mounted on it's side like in the piccie is no good at all, there is a good reason why ford mounted them the way they did, all that's likely to be the end result of how that's mounted is it will become a water pressure sensor as it fills up with moisture over time, will certainly destroy the map sensor.

The length of the pipe is not an issue really, it's more important(read vital) that it has a drop prior to going into the map sensor, so long as you use proper vacuum hose then can mount anywhere you like under bonnet, away from other electrical fields is best, std place is fine, out of harms way, just use some 3mm flat metal to make a bracket up and bolt to inner wing etc.
