Default renault clio engine swap

I have a 1.2 2000 w reg clio that needs an engine change. Can anyone give me advice as to the best way to get the engine out, top or bottom, box left in car or out with engine?

I've.been told there are a few different engine that fan go in these cars and the manifolds etc will swap over. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I haven't picked the car up yet so havent been able to have a look at it.

Cheers for any help.

Can you leave the box in the car and split it from the engine to save pulling the shafts out or is it best to pull it out in one?

If it's coming out from above then split the box otherwise you can drop the lot down on the subframe which is also really easy, that's how I did one before and it didn't take long, but I did have the luxury of a lift.

Just be careful to keep the old motor and label up everything you took off as renault have a habit of changing the stupidest things from year to year,so there maybe a few differences to what appear to be identical lumps.

Not sure how the immobiliser works on them, but on many cars it's where the engine multiplug on the side of the block meets the car wiring also on the side of the block,it's where they actually plug into,so be careful you don't throw anything out until it's all up and running.

Should be loads of 1.2 Clio motors in the scrappy that shape due to the scrappage scheme.

Yea found an engine for 100 quid at the scrappy. Paid 350 for the car so there should be a little bit of profit when I sell it on hopefully. There seems to be a real shortage of sub 1000 pound cars round here
