HTC Desire HD?
Anybody played with one, really tempted by one as I really don't want to be another i-sheep, especially not with 2 year contracts that now seem to be the norm
Its not out yet,
but some info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=754
Some 18 month contracts here http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...47/p83978.aspx
Looking at get one when my contracts up in january, probably as a pay as you go job, its advertised at Ł460 at the moment, and ill get a 12month sim only deal, seems the cheepest and only way to get a 12 month contract these days

I am looking to get one also, but am in the same boat as Fil my contract is not up until the end of Jan. By then Android 3.0 will be out with new phones just round the corner.
Main difference is, the HD has 202mb more rom, built in storeage is 1.5GB, and has an 8Meg camera.
Only slight issue is the HD has a small capacity battery @ only 1230mAhs !

If the HTC Desire is anything to go by then it will be a fucking fantastic phone. I refused to join the crowd and PAY for an iPhone 4 when I was able to get an HTC Desire for nowt, pay less per month on my contract AND have a shorter contract (thank you very much Vodafone retainment team!).
The major achilles heel of the Desire though is the battery life (though you can get power saving apps to help get round that) and the Desire HD is going to have more processing power and more functionality but run EXACTLY the same battery meaning it's going to be even more of an issue!

2 posts above, already stated the batterys smaller on the hd! add the bigger screen too, battery life is not going to be great
Also worth mentioning are the new Windows Phone 7 mobiles that are out soon, including 3 new HTC models. Dell, LG and Samsung also getting in on the act

Not sure on windows 7 handsets, think there are too little too late, on what they do.
Im a windows handset fan, its all i have had for the last 4/5ish years now, but recently been playing with android 2.1 stuff and thats pretty much the route im going to take,
tho i still really like windows 6.5.3 and all the access you have to the overall system

From what I've read it sounds like Microsoft have properly dropped the ball with Windows 7 phones, and created a system which offers no incentive to the phone network providers. As a result the phones are highly unlikely to be discounted, so will cost loads... and they aren't groundbreaking enough to encourage people to pay up for them.
