Default insurance on escort popular first car

i have found a good car for my first car a 1987 escort 1.1 popular, i was planning on putting a rs turbo body kit on it also so i put it on moneysupermarket.com for insurance and came up at a whopping £4000 i was intending not going to spend much more than £3000 on inurance any places i can get cheap insurance off or you could mayby put details as a 17 year old and see how much it is on other sites as i really want this car BAD ??

I would leave it standard for a while. Insurance is a bitch and you will get ass raped no matter who you go to as a young male driver.

a put on the insurance no mods but it was still £4000

Have you tried adding some secuirity? It may be the ease at which it is stolen that is pushing it up. Also have you tried fully comp or tpft? When I worked in insurance fully comp was sometimes much cheaper or visa versa.

i have said it has a tracker and factory fitted alarm and immobiliser and put it as fully comp and it came at £4300 and tpft was £4000 again i dont understand

Try fitting cat 1 immobiliser. That should attract a saving, but you need to consider the cost of installation in your figures. Costs for insurance have shot up mostly cos of the injury compensation culture.
