Default any jag people about?

basicly a problem with an 03 plate x-type, it wont stay locked.
if you use the fob it lock's then either un-lock's straight away or as you walk away from it.
if you use the key in the lock to physically turn to lock it it does exactly the same.
common problem? any ideas to what it actually is that's causing it?

cheers for ANY info on this problem

It is a common issue with the x-type, i know three people who have had them and they have all experienced central locking problems. Cannot remember the cause(s) though, but can ask questions tomorrow!

This may be due to a sticky master lock, what happens is when the central locking pulse times out one of the locks is neither open or closed, rather midway and so it opens again. Usually lubricating the linkage will sort this. To find out which one disconnect one and then try locking.

LOL I have only known it on Fords (Not personally) which is all the Jag is but it could cause the same problem with any C/L although not interested in other makes so woulden't know.

Usually that's caused by a door or boot not being fully closed, therefore the locking defaults and opens again.there deffo ford locks as well and certainly check the above post of locks getting jammed or gummed up,usually the rear doors as they don't get opened so often.

I hear what your saying mate and i'll check it out but would that be a problem only if it locked then unlocked? Rather then the 4-5 second gap?

All depends really mate,as posted above theres a c/l module and if it detects a fault then it may re-lock the car after a couple of seconds.

On my merc ml,if I unlock the door via the alarm, yet do nothing with it within a minute it locks itself, real pain in the arse when you unlock the door from the house cos it's raining, leave your keys inside and get wet because it's fucking locked itself!!!

I've had a look in the owners manual and it's correct, fucking Germans!!!

Won't be rear doors, will be one of the masters I.E the driver or passengers door, the locking part when unlocking and not opening a door is nothing new it's something which most cars have had for ages.
