The rubber flexible one?

Very difficult to find as i've found out recently

I would have thought this would fit as long as its the same size?

I thought you could use a land rover coupling?
Can you not get one made up or are you just after the rubber bit in the middle?
If it's the rubber bit, you can try replacing it with a metal disc, but that makes thing a bit hairy as there is no give in the steeringbwhen you hit a small bump in he road so not really recommended.

If you are struggling for a full one the granadas also used the same parts so you may be able to use that one, but it's got to be from a power steering car as the non ps columns have a different set up.

the 4x4 ones much better but i think it's probably not an option to chop it down, might be able to chop it down and then sleeve it and weld it and stuff to make sure it won't come apart, just to be on the safe side, but they are £110 new, if you can get them

This what I had done with mine about twelve years ago, still as good as new

Cheers,

Alvyn,

Have you got any penetration into the lower UJ? It looks like all the weld is on the shaft and that there is hardly any penetration into the UJ at all!

Mines been welded much worse than that for 7 years now. No problems there. In fact...if you really knew what mine was made up from to get the triangular bit right ..... might be shocked lol.

As for the rubber coupling. Most motor factors used to sell replacements for these years ago. Although they were a nightmare to fit as they used bolts instead of rivets.

Have you ever seen the Lifeline quick release wheel hubs

I can't see why the alloy ones being made would cause vibration if the 4x4's only used a universal type joint ?

Thge 4x4 items have a rubber liner bonded in them , they are not solid

I'm on coilovers, collins engine mounts, solid rack mounts and polybushed all round anyway so it didn't make any difference to me, no constant vibrating through the wheel.
I can get you one made up and try it on a standard car so see how it feels if you like Paul?
Cheers Rich

There's nothing like getting back on topic. I resorted to ebay when mine fell to bits about 2 years ago (wobbly was an understatement!). Got lucky and found a brand new one, in box for a tenner.

Is this any use: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Sierra-Gr...d#ht_585wt_912

Or this:

Rod, I have a spare one that has had a replacement bush fitted that you coud use until you get yours sorted if thats any help?

As to solid mounting them I was going to do this(well get chris @cdfto make it) but had a few people say it would cause problems

Mine is actually not bad, but it show just a tad of wear. Only needs replaceing because we take no chances on a Topspeed run. Mark pointed it out on a full inspection, it will have a second nut/bolt inspection at XSport & they may just point it out if its not replaced.
