Default ripped off by an ebay trader!can i freeze their paypal account?

heres the basics,i bought an exhaust in good condition from an ebay trader,it took a week to come and it ended up i was away with work for 3 weeks and it was left with a neighbour.
i received it on thursday and went to use it yesterday, upon opening i found that it was totally fucked and whoever photographed it had done it so that none of the damage could be seen .it was described as good condition but its basically scrap.
its been 22 days since i received the exhaust but the seller has a 14 day gaurantee on all parts, but this exhaust was knackered before he even bought it so he knows what state he sent it to me in.
im worried that he will fob me off with his 14 day crap and ill be £330 out of pocket.
i have sent an email with pics, opened an ebay dispute, left him a message on his mobile phone and posted on the honda forum as the exhaust was for an integra and a lot of them guys do buy from this ebay seller.
over and above what i have done is there anything else i can do,i heard before when someone opens a dispute it can freeze the paypal account?i want to have the upper hand before i call him tomorrow.

it will only freeze the amount related to that transaction not the whole account

if he doesn't get back to you report it to ebay,
they always side with the buyer, you should get a full refund thru paypal,
its a bit of messing around and takes time but you get it eventualy,
only thing going against you is why it took so long to complain,
the seller will prob say it was fine when he sent it and you prob put it
on you car and damaged it, now your trying to claim it back,
but just stand your ground,
the best way is prob to offer to sent it back to the seller for a full refund if he claims its ok, (unfortunately at your expence but best out for post than £330),
just try to be reasonable with him to see what kind of reaction you get,
if he starts coming the cunt just get onto ebay and paypal and try take him to the cleaners

not 100% sure but i think thats only if he's unverified,
i think once your paypal account is verified it doesn't even freeze the transaction amount

you have 90 days to do a paypal claim from date of purchase, when you do it will freeze the amount you paid for inc postage in his account, if he doesnt have any n his account then his account will go to minus, and if you win aslong as you bought it fromebay then they will take it out of his bank account or credit card

You'll be ok mate. Sellers get shafted by Ebay all the time whether they are in the right or not - the buyer almost always wins any dispute.

You should also name the trader as its only fair people know who on ebay is ripping people off

I have lost a lot of business due to ebay and hear bad stories all the time and realy do wonder why people bother with ebay as nothing seems that cheap to me anymore

ebay has become just another marketplace, rather than the land of bargains it used to be. I used to trade off ebay but I got on the bandwagon and do alot of business on there now, its the way selling has gone for alot of people, and if you provide good service on there you do get regular customers from it, so its a good way of advertising as well imho.

Ebay is definatly flawed, and the odds are stacked against sellers nowadays, which is a joke. I would like to see them get some real compitition, but that seems unlikely.

I say traders should move with the times and use it, plenty already do, you will get top money for your parts I bet.

If my business was car parts I would rather pay fees on ebay than the, what, £250 or so it costs on here for a year, you get a far higher audience.

Just my 2ps worth.

a sensible reply , Sadly tho i just dont have the time for the ebay total fooking wankers who cant even read a simple advert and ring and ask questions that are very clearly answered in the advert

I have placed 2 ebay adds in the last month and had more hassle with skint tossers than i ever get on ANY website

Im far to much of an arsey cunt to deal with ebay pricks

lol at the tags.it was a honda breaker who i got the exhaust from, tegiwaonline.
they got back to me through the integra forum offering a refund which i said yes to but have not received yet.
their explanation was that the guy who took the pics didnt see the damage, plausable as the photos were taken of the exhaust on the floor and the damage was underneath, then the guy who took it apart and wrapped it didnt say it was fooked,if they handle loads of things a day its possible that it went un-noticed.i havent received my refund yet so i think another call may be in order!
