Default Computer geeks, help please!! USB ports no longer worky...

Was trying to connect my Dell laptop upto my AIM dash in the MG yesterday and was struggling to get them to communicate, the laptop knew the USB socket was being used at that time but now I have noticed that non of the USB sockets work Ive tried various USB connected items... camera, memory stick etc and the computer doesn't do anything when they're plugged in....

Any ideas whats happened and how to fix it?

I have tried rebooting (lots of times!!), checked the USB roots in the hardware settings and its all good..Help!!!

Check the usb input is properly connected to the mother board,if it is all fine check the drivers and do a driver scan with a piece of software called driver magican or driver robot..

Instead of trying to find which small settings has changed just go to device manager and uninstall the USB controller (right click on it and choose uninstall)

When you reboot windows will reinstall the USB controller automatically and it should have fixed the problem.

Are you using the lead that just plugs into the side of the AIM dash display?

If so i had the same problem and mine was the AIM at fault as the jack plug was not making a good connection.
I had to wire another lead into the back of the dash (tells you how in the instuction book) and it worked fine then.

Actually forget that, just read your whole post as only read first paragraph when i replied

Have you tried a system restore? Take it back to a time before problems started. I had to do this when my speakers randomly stopped working and no attempts of reinstalling drivers etc fixed it!

It may be the actual USB ports, have you checked to see if they have power?
