ive just taken engine and box out of my 3dr last weekend and remember having a struggle to get my clutch cable off,try to lever back the clutch release arm as far back as it will go and use a pair of pliers to put the cable back into its slot in the arm.

Pull the clutch pedal up, this will release the ratchet and pawl. You will then be able to pull the cable out far enough to get it over the release arm

When you lift the pedal you will need to push the adjuster quadrant towards the bulkhead with your thumb, as said this will release the tension allowing box end to be put on.

few alloy wheels for the engine and subframe to rest on and axle stand for the gearbox
then just a case of lowering the car over it and hoping the subframe boltholes lined up which thankfully they did first time
