Default Whats the best Brakes setup I can buy for my 3dr for around £500-£600 ish

Hi all, Thinking of upgrading my brakes on my 3dr Sierra Cosworth.

Whats the best setup I can get for around £500-£600

I guess for that price I will be just upgrading the Discs and pads and not the calipers.

I just cant spend £1700.00 on some APs at the moment.

Cheers
Ray

When you say Focus brembos. Do you mean Brembo Discs or the calipers?

IIRC CXN's have issues with clearance on brakes, Ask brammer on here as he has the same wheels and was changing his brakes, i think if you change calipers they catch the rim even on bigger 4 pot calipers.

Best to ask Brammer.

Well forget anything 6 Pot then Ray and iirc, i'm running around 370-380bhp on uprated discs and pads with standard Callipers and it stops a treat tbh....

I'd only upgrade mine if i were going to Track the car and that AINT going to happen..

They're plenty good enough, had them on my old 450bhp Saff and they pulled you up like a MO-FO.....

yep, effortless, no hassle! even from stupid speeds.
Unlike the standard ones where i had to pre plan my braking from about 2 miles away.

Sound advice mate. If I cant fit the big brakes, I will just get some uprated Discs and get some Ferrodo 2500s or some Yellow stuff pads.

Cheers

The std 2wd 4 pots do lack when at speed and stamping on the brakes even with decent pads, can't imagine what the 4wd brakes are like.
I've also got tarox 6 pots with 330 discs/bells, can't wait, just got to buy my 17" wheels now so I can use them.

Focus RS Brembos, Focus RS discs (324mm x 28mm), brackets to mount caliper to hub, decent set of pads and a full set of braided hoses.... all for about £600-£700.

Trouble with Mitsi Evo calipers is they were designed with 32mm thick discs in mind.

Steve

I got a set of Focus RS Brembo Calipers for £140 quid, not sure what the disc and pads will cost, but the lines and brackets won't be a killer.

mine where fine with stage 1 power, would get warm after some heavy driving but never failed.
Alot of people told me id need better ones when i upped the power, i thought it was a load of crap, not so!
The speeds are alot different and the brakes work sooo much harder, i could loose my pedal in a matter of minutes.

A lot of suggestion about the Focus discs & callipers here. What size wheels do you have to run to fit them? Can you get them under 15's for example?

You can squeeze the Focus RS setup under some motorsport style 16" wheels (I'm 99% sure Christian had the setup under a set of 16" ProRace wheels), defo a big no under 15's.

You have the option of using big alloy calipers with big pads and original size discs. Here's a pair of big alloy HiSpec calipers with DS3000 pads under 15" wheels:

Ap5200 fit on but with spacers - NY Paul fitted them with 5mm spacers but i think he's on 8" fronts - mine are 7.5" and i can't afford extra width with the height of the car

I tried FRS set up and they touch the studs on the rear even when fitting around 10mm spacers.

i've just bought focus mk1 discs and callipers (brembo 4 pots), brakets (inc all bolts/spacers), and braided brake lines for £390 all in second hand. the £390 includes having the discs slightly machined to remove the tiny lip they had.
