Default 205 short motor value??

Not a sale advert as it still running in my car but......

The block is a 205 short motor rebuilt by Gordon Scott in 2008 and has cover 3300 miles. 1000 miles were covered around the lake district up and down hills to get the engine working. The receipts i have for the rebuild parts state STD size and all genuine Ford from Woodford Garage.

The motor is fine and produces good oil pressure, going by the readings it's on a standard pump and as far as i'm aware it's STD internals.

What sort of cash do these fetch in STD size?

Cheers for help

If I were in a position to need to buy a short block such as yours, I'd pay more possibly up to Ł1K, but that's just my opinion, by the time you add all the parts cost up I think it is still a good deal.
I'm just rebuilding my 205 block at the moment, that did 200,973 miles and is still on std crank big ends and mains, and now 1st oversize pistons, crank was polished but really could have got away without that.

The reason i ask is because i'm trying to work out if it's worth swapping all the internals from my block to my new 200 block or sell complete and buy replacement bit's.

block = Ł100
crank = Ł300-Ł400 if standard size
rods = Ł100
pistons = Ł80-Ł100

i'd say Ł750 if i was selling it as complete.

personally tho, i would use the crank in your new build rather than buying another; the crank is worth the most (assuming it stays on standard grind and is in excellent cond.)

I'll be keeping it as it would cost me more to source a crank in std size, rods, sump, pulley's.

Seen em go on ebay around the Ł500 mark too. Was considering selling my spare 205 motor but some complete ones went for a grand at the time.

I think the point you miss is yes you can rebuild one for that, but that is when you already have one, if you don't and you are buying one for whatever reason outright then considering it is effectively new I'd pay more, so someone faced with sourcing a engine for a project with nothing to start with a effectively new bullet proof short motor has got to be worth that imo, esp if with alt starter ps pump etc etc.
But with money the way it is at the mo, who knows, even selling anything these days is a challenge!!
