Hi all, got a mk1 escort running cossie. Does anyone know which aftermarket tacho and speedo would fit straight into my 6 pod instrument cluster?? I'm looking for something retro as not to spoil the classic looks. Also not sure if it's 80 or 100mm I need?? Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated
Yea spoke to them and others, they couldn't tell me if it was 80 or 100mm I needed! I've got the original 130mph speedo and tacho, but can't get the tacho to read properly with the cossie set up???? And the speedo is a bit lazy, hence needing a more up to date set up.
Speedo is defo re-calibrate-able tacho most likely needs a amplifier, around Ł30 as it is after a points signal which is much stronger, the tacho will most likely just be looped on the rear of the clock for the coil pick up.
Easy to see what size you have just get the ruler out!!

Cheers mate, but looking to keep the original dash. There must be someone out there with the cossie conversion, kept the original dash and have put an aftermarket tacho/ speedo in??
I also have the same problem with the rev counter/tacho + fuel guage, using DTA management with a take off for the tacho from the ecu,
also have a aftermarket sender unit in the grp4 injection tank, which wont activate std guage.
Any body help??
cheers
Likely you will need just an amplifier for the tacho signal, look on the rear of the tacho see if there is a loop of wire from the coil negative wrapped around a post type thing like a clamp.
As for the gauge, some work opposite ie high to low some low to high resistance wise.
If you look on cruzpro.com I think they do a reverser for the different resistance types, though most analogue fuel gauges are disastrously innacurate, cruz also do a gauge that can be 100% accurate.

Smiths telemetrix do a 80mm version of the tacho and speedo which will defo fit in the space.
Look on caigauge.com they do a custom service where you can design your own colours and design of needle, face, outer ring(shape and colour) and illumination colour, as well as course of size of gauge, well worth a look imo.
