Hi i was wondering about getting a Bluefin chip for my Mk1 Focus 1.8, can anyone tell me what sort of power gains i would be looking at or if anyone on here has done to same to their Mk1 focus what you think, was it worth it etc.

Cheers

5 - 10bhp absolute max. Not worth the outlay imho.

i'm pretty sure you can get a proper remap done elswhere for no more money and would get better gains though do the usual breathing mods like zorst and filter first.

i've got a 2l mk1 and the best power mod is the focus central 4-2-1 manifold which decats it aswell. along with that i've got milltek cat back and k&n pannel with uprated cold air feed and she's pumping out in the region of 145-150bhp. thats 15-20 bhp over standard and with a proper remap/live map or rolling road mapped should see the 160+ bhp mark which is pretty much same as st170 but for less money and without all the reliability issues the st170 comes with!

I had a 1.8 Focus with an St170 air intake, air box and K&n panel filter and it made 122bhp and adding a Bluefin made it pull alot better at high revs, though I never got it RR after that sadly.

Would deffo recomend the St170 nits and K&n to start off with

Ł239 for a Focus 1.8 Mk1 & 11bhp gain, according to Bluefin

Same here. I had a K&N filter, ST170 airbox, ST170 snorkel & 2.0 auto air deflector. Felt a bit better at higher revs and a bit louder induction noise.

Easiest mod you can fit mate. Take the old stuff off and fit the new, nothing needs modding.

My RR graph..

Sounds fantastic mate, where do i go about getting the bits from? I think finding an ST170 and nicking the bits off it in the middle of the night might be frowned on lol
The focus in that pic looks stunning btw. I would much prefer my car to have been a 3dr and have the larger zetec s alloys like that one.
Is that really all you did to get 122bhp from your 1.8? thats a great result! How many miles had your car done when it had been dyno'd?

Ebay is your best bet for the bits and its also worth looking in the adverts on here and FFOC. They used to go for a lot when everyone first did it but now seem to have gone down a fair bit.

The power run was done on a very new Dyno dynamics RR so im guessing its fairly accurate though I was a little sus at the time lol.
