Water temp sender - YB engine
Does the standard sender fitted send any info to the ecu which might effect the running of the car? I have disconnect the standard one completely and fitted a raceline electrical sender and gauge in it's place. Could this be causing me missfire problems when the engine is hot or indeed the black sooty exhaust pipe? Any help would be much appreciated before I refit the original to check!
What he ^^ said, there two totally different and independent sensors.
If running rich it may be the CTS which is what supplies the ECU with temp info, if it gives duff info, I.E colder than it actually is it will overfuel as it supplies more fuel this info is used for the base level of fuel from freezing to boiling.

Just to add the CTS, coolant temp sender(for the ecu) is situated at the rear of the head under inlet, blue thing with a 2 pin connector, this is classic for overfueling when wrong, only about Ł10-Ł12 new so if more than 3 years old I'd change it anyway.
