just like a late spec sapphire dash i would imagine, lol.
it should all fit but the steering colum cowling is different,as its for the adjustable colum, aka 4x4.so there may be issues fitting it.
i have a late spec dash if you want to do a trial fitting.

There's a girl in our group done this to her 3-door, looks okay until you stand and look properly then it looks a bit out of place.

Saying that she has leather trim out of a saph as well.

if you need to fit it, make sure you get every little screw and bit of trim and ecu bracket, the works

there is just enough give in the looms to move everythign about as you gain the passenger cubby hole if oyu do it right, i was never a fan of puttin gthe ecu's there as they were a right pain in the arse to get out, but with the glovebox out they are much easier

also need to use the later a piller trims and plastic kick panels in the footwells and you'll lose the speakers in the lwoer dash

as for the column, the later ones are adjustable, and it's simply a case of removeing the new column and putting it into the 3 door

the only place you are going ot have issues is with the stalks for the washers/wipers as the 3 doors have buttons on the dash whereas the rest of the cars have them in the column stalks

you can still fit the centre door opening and lights out stuff into the later dash with a bit of fiddling

you also need to use the later spec heater controls, them 3 screws just need to come out and everythign comes out with it, just unclip it form the heater box and job done

one more thing, the surround is clipped in on the left of the heater vents, so you need to be very careful pulling it out as once it's broken it's going to need a bit of fixing to stop it from rattling like a kid with a new rattle when you are driving along

it's an easy job when you've got a donor car to strip the bits from

Dojj,

All that is correct other than the column bolting directly in, it doesn't as the top support is smaller on the 3dr where the tube runs through and won't bolt up... This can be modified though

I'm running the later stalks, adj column, later switchs and the ecu's will be located as per the later car

Raven dash from a J Reg XR4x4 - I've kept the door trims and kick panels from the XR4i but there is a wee gap just visible at the top of the passenger side one - some day, I'll do something about it.

Wasn't aware of that martin, is this due to the earlier cars not having that deformable section surruonding the column then?

And are you going the whole hog and getting 92 spec door cards as well? They did them on the lhd cars right up to the end of the sierras production so someone will have all the innards to make it a seamless transition

My column bolted straight in?

The shell was new in 1985 so has the later door latches.

Did the collapsible section fit then? My bracket was 6mm too small to accept it.

Yes. The only problem I had was, having fitted the brace for the column, when it came time to fit the clocks the speedo cable fouled so I took the bracket off.

I do like that but couldn't even begin to figure out the wiring to make the "wrong" stalks work!

Cool, they do look so much better with a modern feel and look rather than the square looking old dash.

they are fairly common on the continent, mainly spanish types bought them and they can be had for not a lot of money, comparable to a uk late spec sierra

i'm just trying to find the website that i was shown a while back which reams and reams of cars for sale, much like the uk version of the loot, free ads type paper, but on the internet as someone had bought a car form there

i'll let you know as soon as i get an answer or find the ad

you could always ask ryan3 if there are any in malta, there seems to be a roaring trade in selling all their fords to us brits

Its going to have soooooo many wrong parts that a dash isn't going to make any odds I'm keeping all the old shit anyway.

i must be old fashioned or something id go with what the car had originally

i love a modified outside, martins black with silver monte's will look the nuts but inside is a different story

i guess your right with it being easier to live with

i think seeing it with a different colour surround would be good

i prefer the later style if im honest but i have always ran early ones so i can have some heater vent gauges, as the later one you have to chop about and bond the mounts in

later one also looks more modern aswell

and adjustable coloums wont bolt straght in, i just converted my 88 xr4x4 to adjustable coloum and had to modify the steering coloum mount moles so the coloumn would clear as its wider and obvioulsy moves up and down, but its a simple job to fit and a nice touch i think

i dont see how it did, if it did i bet it rubs like hell if not id be very surprised unless the xr4i uses a different coloum mount
