Bloke at work has taken 4 days holiday over his allocation so you'd expect the company to dock him 4 days worth of wages to cover it or take it out of next years allocation yes?
No, he's got upset and they've given him another weeks worth of holiday to make up for it
I wonder what I'll get away with

With my week off this month and week off in september and the few days i need for the xmas week im over my holiday hours allowance by about 30 hours but i will have to either take a couple days unpaid or work the extra hours up which is probably what i will do in november/decemeber just.
Extra couple hours a week. Company isnt that strict but wouldnt just say sure dont worry about it

I was a day over my sick allowance of 20 days last year and they were plenty quick to dock the money and classify it as unpaid (17 days off with bronchitis) so if we lose our staff bonus for the year I know who's going to get a kick in the bollocks

There is a spreadsheet that gives you the days you've had.
Then there is a othero e which tells you how many you've got remaining.
And another one telling you how many are allocated.
So yesterday I was tasked with making sure e erything was up to date which is where the dewcrepancy has arisen. So I've passed on the info to the bods who authorise it and told the guy yesterday.
So yesterday we sorted out which ones he had to lose and stuff and eveything was great.
But now it turns out that he's gone and cried to the guy who signs off the timesheets and he's authorised it.
Too many cooks springs to mind, not to mention someones going to have to cover for him when it's off for a week so I'm going to let him sort it out.

When I worked at BMW I went to amsterdam for a long weekend.
It was about 10yrs ago when we had some terrible weather and they shut Dover, so the ferry I was on was stuck at sea for a day, it even made the news at the time. then by the time I got back to work I was 2 days over my holiday.
They took it away as unpaid leave.
That was the last time I went on a ferry, lol

I had to wait 6 months for some overtime payments that were owed to me from last year, which were supposed to have been authorised by the same chap. I think he's made it too complicated for his own good as a way to impress his bosses and even though he's a really nice guy, when he knows you've got him by the balls he don't half surrender like a fenchman
It's quiet simple to work out that if you acrrue 2 days worth of holiday per month, if you start you contract in february you will get 2 days less entitlement than the guy who started in january, but due to complicated marhs, he's worked out that the days he's been over don't count and he can have MORE time off
I think somethings going on, but I'll let finance sort it out at the end of the year when they are most busy

I'm in charge of my budget so that I can replace peeps on holiday and off sick with agency staff. And seeing as be isn't technically a member of my staff at my depot I don't really care
Problem will come when the office find out he's been taking holidays at a depot he's not supposed to be working out of and will sack him. But as soon as I tell senior management they'll pull the plug on him so I'm going to plead ignorance as someone else has given him the ok to work out of here and take holidays.
Whatever people may think of me, I'm not about to cost the guy his job because he's taken a weeks holiday too much when I've already explained to my boss what's going on. The ball is directly in his court, although I hope that he's not already been given the push and this "holiday" is part of his notice period before they let him go.
We are overstaffed by 50% so it doesn't take a genious to figure out that the guy who's going up for a dicsiplinary isn't going to come back next week and the guy they have on a casual week by week contract ain't going to be staying either, but that still leaves this guy.
Sneaky doesn't begin to describe some of the practices that go o. Behind closed doors.
