My mate has a 08 Transit Sport which so far has had 3 EGR valves fitted due to them failing and lighting up the dash like a xmas tree which has happened again today. Took it to Ford who ran a check on it and came back and said Ford has told them they are not to fit any new EGR valves until they come up a solution to the problem as there is a design problem with them. Ok that is fair enough but when asked how long until they sort out the problem they said they have no idea which is great when you pull out to overtake on the motorway and it goes into limp mode. As you can guess my mate is well pissed off with it do any of you know of a way of blanking it of as I have read that some Mondeo TDCI owners have blanked them off?

It has had all the updates done and it still goes into limp mode sometimes when you put the foot down. Ford dont want to know and now want to charge him even when the van still has 1 year left on its warranty.

 

On the mondeo, you just blank of the pipe from the exhaust manifold where it comes around the engine and into the egr valve.

I done it on my mondeo and never had any trouble with it.

I had a big transit and I mine went as well.

 

I wouldn't do it.
