Just buy a 172 clio for 1500 quid, you dont have to build it, they just work, and will keep with any of those round a track.

not a hatch but more fun as its even more offensive as its so crap.sold this a few years ago,was chipped,3.0 cams, exhaust etc.wiped the floor on a dual carriageway from a standing start to flat out with a mcrae edition impreza,pulsar,13.4 sec 1/4 mile, kept up with 600cc bikes on a back road i know well for 6 miles till we got to the next town.was a bit heavy in the front though.

XE novas don't handle all that well as the chassis just doesn't like the extra weight over the front wheels.

People run into the 8's round the ring in stock 172's so thats what I'd be going with as the rest are old, definitely going to need major upkeep and no where near as practical as a Clio

unsure as the engine came from a calibra i bought as spares, but it was chipped and cammed.chances are it wont be the same engine as i sold it to a lad in denny then it got passed about then i seen it at knockhill,i was driving a standard 2.0 redtop corsa and managed to pass it on the straight and pull away from it and the guy driving was going for it.theres no way that would have happened with the engine i put in it.i seen it about 1 1/2 years ago for sale on an escort forum, looked well shagged and beaten.total waste as the shell was like new when i sold it.old mrs winifred sandbach who had itbefore me would not be impressed if she seen it then!!

Bang for your buck you wont get owt faster IMO than a let corsa/nova.... immense fun, some supercar killing power for less than 4k.... it not handle like a 172 would, but 60-130 not alot will keep close!

it was the same engine then as it was me that bought it from alex in denny as he didnt have it long and a had it for ages then a sold it back to him, then he offered it back to me but a had too many cars at the time or a would of had it back.so dunno who he sold it to but after that it seemed to get passed about then seen it on knockhill and it didnt look as fast!

personally a let nova fully sorted suspension/brake wise is one cracking car, i also like the ideas of the 172 especially with a low boost turbo conversion (220bhp)

Anything turbo will be most 'fun' but possibly not the fastest round a track.
