Cannot find topic with difference between red and green top?

Default Cannot find topic with difference between red and green top?

Hi,

I cannot find the topic re. the difference between the red top (2wd) and green top (4wd) Sierra Cosworth? Can you please help me? I've tried the "search" but cannot find it

hello mate
some 4x4 had a red top, basically only real difference is the green top had a cat and all the accoiated engine manegment i.e. lambda sensor in the exhaust, different ecu.
the 2wd and 4x4 are totally different
block, sump, head,pistons,inlet and exhaust manifolds, and the list goes on, but most thing are interchangeable as far as i am aware(with some modifications),

thought red top orig only run on leaded fuel ,green top unleaded plus did they do blue top? not sure so stand to be corrected.

that is correct mate and the blue top was escort big turbo, which also is unleaded only.

But dont the red top 4x4's run on unleaded as well?

yes all red tops can run on unleaded as long as octane rating is higher than 95 i.e. super, optimax ,etc. the only reason green and blue tops can't use leaded is it "poisons the oxygen sensor and cat"
