Default Has anybody upgraded to a Sky+HD 1TB box?

As i've got a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket i'm thinking of taking the plunge... Really for the extra storage and also it's 3D ready out of the box..

Just with a price of £249.99 i don't know whether to wait a bit to see if the price drops...

anyone? Smit.

Got one when they first came out, for £150 as I had one of the original Thompson boxes. Some people have rung up and got them for that price without the letter too.

Works soo much nicer than the early boxes, theres no lag at all with the planner or changing channels.

Looks better too, and is a little smaller.

Think the reason why your friend doesn't fit the 1TB boxes is that you have an option of fitting them yourself for free (if your already an HD viewer.......Or pay £60 for an engineer to do something u can do in 5 mins.

I've had my original HD box for over a year now so the warrenty had expired... Just don't know whether i trust myself to upgrade the hardrive without fucking it up

Make sure you get the correct "cooler running" drive if you change yours.

The 1Tb box is actually 1.5Tb, with 500mb reserved for the Video on demand service later in the year. The older boxes will work with this, but have much less space for downloading.

May look into it.

I could do with a bigger hard drive on my Sky+ HD Box

and this 1TB one gathering dust. Might put it in the kitchen or something

i got one on order, won't be here for 3 weeks though, offer expired yesterday though but you may be able to get it if you are quick enough

standard price is £249 but they were on offer to HD cunstomers for £149, but do bare in mind that they will charge you a £30 delivery fee, even though i live a stones throw from sky's head office they wouldn't let me collect it

anyway, my brother came over to visit and, as he was the account holder he said that if they didn't do him a better deal on the box then he was going to terminate the contract anyway as it was more hassle than it was worth as me, being the person who watches it and pays for it, was unable to get satisfactory service as i was not the account holder

anyway, a bit of faffing about later and the box is coming, for £149, no delivery charge, with a £50 credit to the account

i'll let you know what's what when it arrives

channel 217 is sky 3d, but you need a 3d telly to be able to watch it, although the hd box will run the 3d stuff

Component has been dropped on all new HD boxes.

You'll need a HDMI splitter

Top: 1Tb , middle New HD

If you end up getting a hdmi splitter becareful which one you use, alot of them wont fool the HDCP on the sky box. I am using a Belkin Pure AV one with remote, with no issues.

The biggest upgrade with the 1TB box is the menu is RAPID!! You can scroll channels faster than you can read them!

There's a USB port in the back as well, is that normal use then or just there for show?

another thing that isn't used, they've tried to future proof the box, and soon the ethernet port will be used for VOD
