Default couple of questions re t5 box and 7.5 diff

got chatting to one of the lads at work last night as you do , and he slipped that he used to work for a gearbox reconditioning firm before they went under in the crunch ,

so i asked if he had experience with the cos t5 and hes like " can rebuild them with my eyes shut beef "

so hes offerd to sort it for me foc as the 3 gear selectors have gone,

hes said replace all the bearings selectors ect while im at it ,

but is there anything out there as the cheaper and of the scale to strengthen or uprate the t5 peeps

such as uprated bearings or the like ??

also ive heard or re-rating a standard cossie diff to take out some of the slip , he said he knows of it , and its a case of tightening up four main bolts inside the diff and measuring the play with a micrometer ,

now i dont have a clue whats involved , , so does anyone know about this ? or had it done >?

any other tips or suggestions , i did plan on uprating both , but the power im running dont really call for it ,

beef

u should go for one of them oplinger gear kits dont know if thats spelt right lol and as for bearings just go for a good make like sfk! And dont bother with the standard diff if u have big torque in mine as there shit go for a gripper or a quaife!I did my box and diff with 350 bhp and around the same torque! others dont but fuck knows how lol

my standard t5 rebuild box lasted 5 years of over 400 bhp .then another 2 years of over 500bhp ,before being rebuilt when it did not need it ,
turned out clutch cover had gone week ,snapped eventually
diff did the same as is still going as we speak
imo standard good condition items or rebuilt to standard spec fine
everytime my saff went out .got its head smashed in most days ,so was well tested ,maybe i was just lucky
up to you pal just my opinion

still got access to a propper long puller fella,

beef

id rather rebuild the standard stuff of the price of selectors and bearings,

then replace if it shits itself ,

rather than just replacing for the sake , money saved is money spent in other places
