any1 know what the std msd chip rev limits at?
i have no rev counter in my car

 

Ive not found mine and its been way of the rev counter at times

I thought it would b more like 7200.
I was told the engine could rev to 8k when I had it built.
Might get it upped a bit when it goes back.

Would 7200 be ok? Or pointless?

 

mone used to bounce off the rev limiter so its more than 7k

 

mine's 7500 now

7600 hard cut

in the MSD chip file I have

 

msd mapped my old one on standard lifters and soft cut was 7800 rpm limiter 8000 rpm, she howled and flamed like a good un

 

does seem low but i thought that was the limit on a original engine

smooth cut rev limit random cuts each injector to limit over rev it will then at around 300 rpm higher cut the lot it isn't loud

Just a bit of geek info....

The first smooth cut isnt designed to limit the RPM thats what the secondary hard cut does.
It is designed to warn you that you need to change gear or back off by giving the effect of a sudden moderate decrease in engine power/response.

The weber ecu's are not capable of producing random numbers of any sorts as they do not include software which allows this.
(Computers cannot produce truly random numbers but thats another discussion)

Instead the fuel is cut to each injector one at a time sequentially in the reverse firing order of the engine.
The ignition spark is provided to all cylinders regardless of rev limit.
This provides a smooth power loss with no unburnt fuel so preventing backfires.

 

strange deffo not a miss fire, was on the rollers lastweek for a setup and nothing was mentioned

if id had that on my last saph it would of had about 1500 rpm power band lol

 

dont forget the standard rev counter is shockingly inacurate.

the rev limits we set are dependant on turbocharger and engine spec, they are not all the same obviuosly.
