Default PUMA engine, gearbox in fiesta question...

Hi guys. We have fitted a puma 1.7 engine in my brothers fiesta and decided to leave the standard 1.6 gearbox in. However after we have now fitted it and installed the loom etc I've noticed that there is a big gap on the front where the starter motor goes into the gearbox. It seems there should be a bracket of some sort however the gearboxs are identical!!

Any help would most appreciated and all work has ground to a halt now until we work out what to do next!

Also My brother didnt get a key with the new loom and ecu. Although we are still using his original ignition and immobiliser transponder I'm pretty sure this will not register with the new ECU. Am I right or wrong.

Cheers

you need the PATS chip for the ECU you are using in the car, ie the one from the puma key. Otherwise its a job for ford to reset it and they will charge a few bob for 20 minutes work!!!!

Is there a plate between gearbox and engine thats missing?

Think he means the starter motor position is different, right?
